EDU 431 - Content Area Literacy

Instruction in the teaching of reading and writing within the content areas on the elementary/middle/secondary level. Consideration of the nature of the learner, the readability and scope of content area materials, theories and methods of language arts curriculum, instructional techniques relating to continued literacy, development within the content areas, remediation and enrichment activities. Emphasis on the interactive processes of reading, writing, and learning. Field work required (only for English Language Arts Education Majors): concurrently enrolled in EDU 397.
