Students must accumulate 450 supervised clock hours. To be eligible to register for the mentorship, a student must have completed all core and major track courses, must be in good standing with the college, and must have a minimum 3.0 CGPA.

Evidences from the mentorship experiences must be included in the culminating portfolio.

The format and techniques for writing a scholarly research paper are presented. Various types of research commonly used in sports are reviewed. Descriptive and inferential statistical analyses are covered, with an emphasis on their application to sports.

Thesis requires the development of an original research project under the direction of a faculty mentor. The thesis includes a 45-minute oral presentation.
