Broadfield Language Arts Certification for Secondary Education Majors (EA/A) DPI License #1301
Program Requirements:
- Broadfield Language Arts Certification (48 credits)
License Areas:
- Grades 6-10, English, Language Arts, Speech/Communication, Journalism
- 12 credit concentration required to teach upper level courses (11-12) in specific categories
Most students complete at least one concentration in addition to English.
Required Courses:
- ENG 210 - American Literature 1 3 credits
- ENG 211 - American Literature 2 3 credits
- ENG 220 - British Literature 1 3 credits
- ENG 221 - British Literature 2 3 credits
One one of the following Shakespeare courses: - ENG 321 - Shakespeare 1 3 credits
- ENG 322 - Shakespeare 2 3 credits
and ENG 330 - COM 301 - Professional Communication 3 credits
- COM 311 - Listening 3 credits
- COM 315 - Persuasive Communications 3 credits
- COM 331 - Principles of Public Relations 3 credits
- COM 403 - Issues in Contemporary Mass Communication 3 credits
- EDU 349 - Teaching Literature 3 credits
Concentration Note:
