Media Design is an interdisciplinary major whose goal is to prepare graduates for entry-level positions in design- or communications-related careers. Students in Media Design are educated as generalists-visual thinkers, design conceptualists, and problem solvers-and as specialists-in the aesthetics and utilities of typography, layout, imagery and color. Processes, production techniques, and professionalism are also emphasized.
A student majoring in Media Design may not also major or minor in Art.

A major in media design consists of at least 47 credits:
