  • Exit cumulative GPA of 2.50 in major.

2+2 Partnership Sample Plan: Diagnostic Medical Sonography Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center

The Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) major consists of two years of general education and science coursework at WLC followed by two years of clinical training at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center or another partner institution (64 credits). Completion of the course work at WLC does not guarantee admission into the clinical training program.

To be competitive, a 3.0 GPA is recommended and a C or better is required in MAT-117 (or a higher MAT course), COM-101, PHY-151, NUR-405, BIO-225, 255, 323, and ENG-101. Students that are not admitted into a clinical training program at a partner school of sonography will need to declare another major and complete all of the general education requirements (including all four Theology courses) in order to graduate with a bachelor’s degree from WLC.

Those who are accepted into the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program are only required to complete two theology courses to meet the general education theology requirement.

Complete general education and degree requirements may be found here.

36 core credits (plus electives) to be completed at WLC with a minimum of “C” or better and a minimum 3.0 GPA

Campus Residency Statement

Students majoring in Allied Health are exempt from the residency requirement during their clinical internship (year 4 for Nuclear Medicine Technology majors and years 3 & 4 for Diagnostic Medical Sonography and Radiologic Technology majors). If students wish to live on campus during their clinical internship, they may apply through the Director of Residence Life.

Students who choose to live off-campus during their clinical internship are encouraged to continue participation in a wide range of campus events (athletic competitions, chapel services, guest lecture series, musical concerts, plays, and other social events). However, they will not be eligible to participate in intercollegiate sports due to scheduling conflicts nor will they have access to on campus health services or IT support as they will no longer be charged student support or health fees.

For the vast majority of students tuition and scholarships will remain unchanged during clinical internship training, however students that receive tuition remission (i.e. children of faculty/staff at WLC) will be asked to pay a minimum of $7,500 per year tuition.
