Mathematics Minor

Minor in Mathematics: A minor in mathematics is a valuable complement to most majors. This is especially true for majors in the natural sciences, and in the life and social sciences the necessity of mathematical sophistication is growing. A minor in mathematics significantly improves a student’s employment potential.

Course of Study

A minor in mathematics consists of at least 22 credits in mathematics at the 200 level or higher including:

Mathematics core:

MAT 221 - Calculus 1 4 credits
MAT 222 - Calculus 2 4 credits
MAT 223 - Calculus 3 4 credits

Continuous or discrete option:

MAT 224 - Ordinary Differential Equations 4 credits
or
MAT 230 - Discrete Mathematics 4 credits

Grade Point Average:

To have a minor in mathematics approved for graduation, a student must have a minimum GPA of 2.00 in all mathematics courses selected by the student to satisfy the minor.
